1. Shahadah (Declaration of Faith) The Shahadah is the core declaration that affirms the oneness of Allah and the prophethood of Muhammad (PBUH). It is recited in Arabic as:

   • Arabic: لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا الله مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ الله
   • Translation: “There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is the messenger of Allah.” Belief in the Shahadah is the foundation of Islamic faith.

2. Salah (Prayer) Salah is the second pillar, emphasizing the regular performance of ritual prayers five times a day. These prayers, conducted at specific intervals, serve as a direct means of communication between the individual and Allah. Prayer strengthens faith, purifies the soul, and fosters a sense of spiritual discipline and mindfulness.

3. Zakah (Charity) Zakah is the obligation for Muslims to give a portion of their wealth (2.5% annually) to support the less fortunate in society. It promotes social justice, compassion, and solidarity among believers, ensuring economic equity and purification of wealth.

4. Sawm (Fasting during Ramadan) Sawm is observed during the holy month of Ramadan, where Muslims abstain from food, drink, and other physical needs from dawn until sunset. This act of fasting teaches self-discipline, empathy for the needy, and spiritual reflection, drawing individuals closer to Allah through devotion and sacrifice.

5. Hajj (Pilgrimage to Mecca) Hajj is the pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca, undertaken by Muslims who are physically and financially capable. It occurs annually during the Islamic month of Dhul-Hijjah and involves rituals such as Ihram, Tawaf, and standing at Arafat. Hajj symbolizes unity, equality, and spiritual renewal, cleansing the pilgrim of sin and affirming their devotion to Allah.
